Pavilion with Snøhetta and Olafur Eliasson

Internationally acclaimed artist Olafur Eliasson and award-winning Norwegian architect Kjetil Thorsen of the architectural practice Snøhetta had the honor of designing the 2007 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion. Serpentine is an annual architectural commission which showcases new temporary buildings designed by different international architects that have never built any structure in England before. Pivot was contracted as part of the design team, and our responsibility was design for fabrication.

We modeled all the geometry that was produced, and made several studies of structure and design. We helped to solve various geometry, design tasks, and finally delivered made solutions to exterior, interior, outer cladding and structure designs.

We delivered built parts as STEP-files (NURBS geometry) nested for CNC milling, and 2D drawings. The parts were engraved with numbers, and layered in a tidy way for manufacturing.
