We started of by assessing what it was that is required of a heel lifter. As all direction hinge technology is dynamic we had to make the heel lifter work with this, by fully understand how the hinge behaved in all conditions we were able to pick an angle that would work. The hinge also introduces the factor of heel movement, to counteract this we added grip on the lifter when it is in both activated and at rest. The most significant aspect of the lifter is how its snap fit works, the result is minimal part count and a super robust and clean mechanism that match the durability of the rest of the product. Once the geometry of the lifter was established we modeled the parts, produced prototypes, produced 3d production CAD files and also flattened all 3D formed sheet metal parts to 2D.
