ESNA introduces the new Tern design, a surface effect ship for offshore wind crew transfer. The Tern uses the air cushion not only for motion damping during transit, but also to increase operational wave height when transfering personnel to wind turbines in offshore windfarms. The base Tern design has a maximum service speed of above 40 knots in calm sea, it can have a draught of less than 1m, and can transfer personnel safely in sea states above 2m significant wave height. The vessel can easily be adapted to other markets, and the design can be scaled to meet even tougher environments.
